Hello and Namaste Blessed Self!

Two women, Rita and Rupa, decided to begin practicing meditation, but found it quite challenging. Their problem was their inability to focus, with their minds bursting with a multitude of thoughts, their family, work, spouse etc. Rupa eventually was able to sit for long meditation sessions, while Rita continued to struggle with even a few minutes of meditation. The reason for Rupa’s progress turns out to be that she began using Yoga-Dhvani audios to gain clarity and focus.

The word “Yoga” has many meanings. One of the meanings is “meditation.”  Dhvani means word, voice or sound. In the language of Samskritam (Sanskrit), it is pronounced as Yogadhvanihi.

So, Yoga-Dhvani is the sound or word that can lead one to meditation, wherein, one experiences deep peace, being connected to The Very Source. This is the yoga of sound, or the sound of Yoga, or the sound of meditation or the meditation on sound.

Chants are a combination of words. The world is nothing but a vibration of energy. Where there is vibration, there definitely is sound. So, the world is nothing but sound. The sound from the “Damaru” (drum) of Shiva is said to have been the cause of creation. Chants too contain sound and they become the source of enormous vibrations and infinite power.

You can experience vivid peace and tranquility that comes from ancient knowledge through the practice of genuine chanting.

For this it is essential to know the nature of the human brain (your brain) and what to do to tap into its highest power.

First, the nature of the human brain:

The brain is the most sophisticated yet the least understood part of a human being.  For example, according to research:

“It is estimated that the human brain produces 70,000 thoughts on an average day.”

This means that unless we learn how to reduce this number, we may feel restless and may suffer from constant stress, tension and anxiety.

One way of positively reducing the number of thoughts and the influx of information in our brain, is through some form of meditation.

How is that so?

Research shows that various parts of the brain like: frontal lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe, occipital lobe, cerebellum, thalamus, and reticular formation, slow down their activities during meditation.

This fact is further affirmed by the ancient book on Yoga called “Bhagavad Gita” in chapter 6.

 Bhagavad Gita

So, meditation is the ONLY gateway for quietening the mind.

In the process, it offers benefits like: calmness, inner peace, joy, vibrant health, more energy, positive relationships and fulfillment in life. It is the antidote for stress and worry.

 Meditation hands at center

  • Enables you to experience the higher and refined states of consciousness.

When your consciousness evolves and expands, negative emotions like anger and disappointment stop affecting your life. You learn to let go of things and start living in ‘the moment’.

  • Enables you to explore the mystery of life and this universe, etc.

You begin to ask questions like – What is the purpose of my life? What is this world? As you begin this process of inquiry, your life and attitude transform.

There are 2 reasons to name the series so.

Reason 1: The various volumes of the series will progress from being on certain “FORMS” of the Divine, to addressing the “natural elements”, to addressing “Guru (Teacher)”, to finally “The FORMLESS COSMIC CONSCIOUSNESS”.

Thus, the progression of the chants happens from the FORMS to the FORMLESS.

Reason 2: The initial volumes on various FORMS of the Divine expand the mind to a state wherein it is ready to understand and experience the FORMLESS COSMIC CONSCIOUSNESS.

Thus, the progression of the mind happens from the FORMS to the FORMLESS.

Volume 1 is on Lord Ganesha. The reasons for choosing Ganesha are

[green_plus_2_list width=”100%”]

  • HE is always worshiped first, before beginning any task.
  • He is even called Vigneshvara, the one who removes obstacles.
  • Before invoking any other deity for long prayers, Ganesha is invoked first, so that the task will go unhindered.
  • So, as is the tradition, Volume 1 begins with Chants on Ganesha – the elephant headed God, the first son of Shiva and Parvati.
