Two women, Rita and Rupa, decided to begin practicing meditation, but found it quite challenging. The proper way to pronounce Yoga is “YogaH” in the language of Samskritam (Sanskrit). There is no prolonged “Aaa” sound at the end but rather the sound of the letter “Ha” at the end. It is a short "Ha" like the "Hu" in the word "Hut".
Here, because the word YogaH comes in combination with another word "Dhvani", we don't pronounce "Ha" at the end of the word "Yoga".
Dhvani means word, voice or sound. In the language of Samskritam (Sanskrit), it is pronounced as "Dhvanihi" with the "hi" sound at the end as in the word "hit".
Together, the word is pronounced as Yoga-Dhvanihi.
The word "YogaH" has many meanings. One of the meanings is “meditation.”
So, Yoga-Dhvani is the sound or word that can lead one to meditation, wherein, one experiences deep peace, being connected to The Very Source. This is the YogaH of sound, or the sound of YogaH, or the sound of meditation or the meditation on sound.
WHAT IS CHANTING?
Chants are a combination of words. The world is nothing but a vibration of energy. Where there is vibration, there definitely is sound. So, the world is nothing but sound. The sound from the “Damaru” (drum) of Shiva is said to have been the cause of creation. Chants too contain sound and they become the source of enormous vibrations and infinite power.
You can experience vivid peace and tranquility that comes from ancient knowledge through the practice of genuine chanting.
HOW DOES MEDITATION HELP?
For this it is essential to know the nature of the human brain (your brain) and what to do to tap into its highest power.
First, the nature of the human brain:
The brain is the most sophisticated yet the least understood part of a human being. For example, according to research:
“It is estimated that the human brain produces 70,000 thoughts on an average day.”
This means that unless we learn how to reduce this number, we may feel restless and may suffer from constant stress, tension and anxiety.
One way of positively reducing the number of thoughts and the influx of information in our brain, is through some form of meditation.
How is that so?
Research shows that various parts of the brain like: frontal lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe, occipital lobe, cerebellum, thalamus, and reticular formation, slow down their activities during meditation.
This fact is further affirmed by the ancient book on YogaH called “Bhagavad Gita” in chapter 6.
So, meditation is the ONLY gateway for quietening the mind.
In the process, it offers benefits like: calmness, inner peace, joy, vibrant health, more energy, positive relationships and fulfillment in life. It is the antidote for stress and worry.
